About Speaker

Adriaan Woonink is the Operational Manager and Business Developer at Uniqa Wall Systems, a Dutch-Moldovan company manufacturing prefab panels for the housing industry in Europe. Uniqa started as a way of creating employment for young fathers in the Stefan Voda raion, an area with low opportunities within Moldova. He came to work in Moldova after working in the Netherlands for 3 years as an energy efficiency expert in buildings. During his studies he lived in Malawi for 5 months, a country so poor it makes Moldova seem quite wealthy. It is there he got a good taste of living in a foreign country and trying to make a difference in the daily lives of the people that live there.

Originally from the Netherlands, Adriaan has seen much of the world before falling in love with Moldova and the challenges that life brings here. On all of his trips, he asked himself: How do people tackle the challenge of energy efficiency here? And now that he lives in Moldova he is part of tackling that subject together with the Moldovans.
